“I have my own unique road that has had many exciting ups and heart-breaking downs, but one thing I know is that my journey is not over and the best is yet to come.”
-Ryan Hall, Olympic Marathoner
I have my next marathon, the P.F. Changs Phoenix Rock ‘n Roll Marathon, in one and a half weeks. While I’ve worked hard, I have a goal in mind, I do not know what the outcome of this race will be for me. This training season has presented its own, new, and unique challenges. I’ve encountered health issues, I’ve tackled pace runs and increased my speed drills, and I’ve added strength training. I’ve used running to celebrate good news and to help me overcome bad news and frustrations that I’ve experienced in the past few months.
The thing is, for me, I’m going into this marathon pretty relaxed and confident. For me, it’s all about the journey. I’ve learned so much in the past few months of training. Every training season is different and I am constantly learning more and pushing myself more. I know the journey is not over in a week and a half. A new one will only then be beginning :).
