“No matter how bad I feel a run or race went, there is always a part of running where I am smiling from ear to ear. If running can keep me smiling like that, it will always be a part of my life.”
This is true. I’ve written many blog posts about how frustrated I am during each race. Sometimes, how frustrated I am post race, finding myself questioning why I keep on running. But that smile is always there.
It goes hand in hand with this quote from Hal Higdon, who I also had the pleasure of meeting at the Chicago Marathon Expo 2011. True inspiration.
“What is the purpose of any one workout? Enjoyment? Improvement? Coach said so? Whatever, the hour you run often is the best hour of the day.”
